‘Uprising’ Garden awarded Silver at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2012

I am proud to announce that my debut show garden has been warmly received by expert judges and the public. I have been awarded a Silver medal at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2012!

The Garden ‘Uprising’ - designed by myself and built by Burnham Landscaping Ltd (www.burnhamlandscapingltd.co.uk) - is inspired by the Tottenham riots and sets out to explore how naturalistic planting, more commonly found in the countryside, can have a calming effect on urban spaces.

The garden features an urban landscape with natural planting. A dynamic zig zag path, large slate grey towers and a specially designed reverse graffiti wall created by Media Gang ltd. The reverse graffiti wall was made possible because of the generous support received by Karcher (www.karcher.co.uk)

If you’ve enjoyed the Uprising garden, please vote to help us compete to win the People’s Choice Award at Hampton Court Flower Show 2012. All you have to do is follow this link and vote for ‘Uprising’ in the small gardens category now! http://www.rhs.org.uk/Shows-Events/RHS-Hampton-Court-Palace-Flower-Show/2012/Gardens/People-s-Choice

RHS HAMPTON COURT FLOWER SHOW 2012 ‘Uprising’

As a resident of Tottenham I was inspired by last summers riots to design a garden in response to the destruction caused. As the regeneration of affected areas gets underway I want to explore the benefits that horticulture and naturalistic planting can bring to urban environments, whilst also engaging a younger audience into gardening and design.
